Day 4: Pumpkin Patch Snack

Spending a day at the pumpkin patch can build up a fierce appetite. Tame tummy growls with a cute pumpkin- shaped snack.

Caramel Pumpkin Pretzels

These one-bite treats are perfect on the go, or for nibbling at home. They’re sweet, they’re salty, and best of all they’re simple!

Ingredients:

Small Pretzels

Caramels

Orange melting chocolate wafers

M&M’s

Directions:

1. Warm a caramel in the microwave for about 10 seconds. (Caution, it will be very hot). Mold the caramel over one entire side of the pretzel.

2. Place on aluminum foil, and chill in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.

3. Meanwhile, melt candy wafers in the microwave. Microwaves vary, but I generally start with 30 seconds and stir, and then, continue at 30 second intervals until smooth.

4. Dip caramel pretzels in melted chocolate.

5. While candy is still wet, add an M&M for the pumpkin stem. You may need to roll a tiny piece of foil up to prop the stem into place while it hardens.

6. Chill till hardened and enjoy!

Happy Pumpkin Patching!

31 Days of Chocolate: October 2nd

It’s day two of Agatha’s 31 Days of Chocolate.

Today is all about embracing the fall season. Meaning, trading in the summer bathing suit for some comfortable-room-for-eating-stretchy pants.

It’s time for a little TLC, or what I’d like to call, Truffle Loving Care.

October 2nd: Treat yourself to a seasonal truffle, or two, (or a box, I’m not judging), at a chocolate shop. Not the stuff you buy by the bagful for Trick or Treaters. Not the candy you find in stale bulk boxes at the grocery store. A REAL chocolate shop. With REAL chocolates. The kind of confections you pick out of the shop case like fine pieces of jewelry. The real deal, because you deserve it.

Here are some of my season’s picks:

See’s Candies: Caramel Apple Scotchmallow

Katherine-Anne Confections: Walnut Goat Cheese Truffle

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory: Peacan Pie Truffle

Christopher Elbows: Blood Orange Carmels

What’s your favorite luxury chocolate?

Chocoholic’s Fall Bucket List: 31 Days of Chocolate

10

There’s just something about October that just energizes my soul.

Maybe it’s the chill in the air,

the cozy clothes,

the days in the pumpkin patch,

the nights in front of the fire,

the vibrant leaf confetti,

AND, the promise of bucket-loads of chocolate candy.

Don’t want to miss out on any chocolate opportunities? Let me be your guide, as we celebrate 31 days of October, chocoholic-style.

Day One:

Today we celebrate the 30th birthday of Matilda, by Roald Dahl.

What better way to celebrate than eating a chocolate cake bigger than your head!

Too much of a good thing? Is that possible? Let me know, in the comment section below!

(Will go easy on you on this one….If you eat any chocolate cake this month, check it off your list. ✅)

You put WHAT in my chocolate cake?

5

You want the best cake. The moistest cake. The healthiest cake.
I get that. I really do.

Bring out the chocolate flavor with a dash of espresso powder? Sure. I can handle that.

How about adding a dollop of sour cream? Maybe.

Make it moister with mayonnaise?

That’s where things cross the line for me. Some things just don’t belong in chocolate cake. My rule of thumb, if it goes on a sandwich, leave it out of my dessert.

Now, I’m not totally closed-minded. Let’s say you’d like dessert, but you don’t want all the calories that come with it. That’s understandable. In fact, I find some of the early hacks acceptable, substituting fats with fruits, such as, apple sauce, bananas, or pumpkin.

But, the latest trends have me holding my stomach.
Avocado, zucchini, kale, and the one that pains me to type in the same sentence as chocolate…black beans. Black beans, you guys.

If you are one that eats like this, I’m not putting you down. In fact, I applaud you and your super powers.

Call me stubborn, or call me a purist (I prefer the latter), but I just can’t bring myself to do it.

It’s not the fact that I don’t like vegetables. I’d just prefer to keep them out of my dessert. (Back to my sandwich rule).

Am I alone on this one? I’d love to hear your opinions!

So much chocolate…But, what’s your preference?
