Halloween is all about the creep-factor. And I can’t think of anything creepier than eating a frog.

October 6th: Watch (or read), Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and eat Chocolate Frogs

If you can’t find them in the store, you can purchase frogs here.

Or, you can make your own and get a lot more toads for your green. I like theseĀ moldsĀ because they’re big enough to add a filling or surprise center. Plus, they look more real, and less cutesy.

31 Days of Chocolate: Oct. 5th- Take a Hike, Raisins

October 5th: Take a hike, make a chocolate trail mix

I confess, I don’t exercise like I should. But, if there’s one thing that will get me eager to strap on some athletic shoes and head outdoors, it’s fall. The cool, crisp air, the gorgeous Autumn landscape… the luring scent of chocolate chip cookies baking at the neighbor’s house.

For the best views, I like to venture away from home, to a park, or the mountains. Now if I’m going to go on some epic hike, I’m going to need to be prepared. That’s right, snacks. And hitting the trails means one thing, Trail Mix.

Of course, you can buy a generic trail mix already prepared on the grocery store shelf. But, if you’re anything like me, you’re going to pick around half of the ingredients. Enemy #1, The pesky raisin. I know many of you adore them. But, for me, if I accidentally ate one, my afternoon would be ruined. Too dramatic? Maybe the hatred stemmed from one too many bad trick or treating experiences as a kid.

You know the kind….You knock on the door, plaster on your sweetest smile, and eagerly open up your candysack.

All of your hopes are on a prizedĀ chocolate bar. Your eyes grow big; your anticipationĀ builds.Ā Thump…A box of dreaded raisins.

Okay, enough of my ramblings (until someone brings up kale. Lol)

For me, the perfect trail mix has several components. Something salty, something sweet, something crunchy, and something fun.

Here are some trail mix ideas for October:

31 Days of Chocolate: Oct.4th- Pumpkin Patch

Day 4: Pumpkin Patch Snack

Spending a day at the pumpkin patch can build up a fierce appetite. Tame tummy growls with a cute pumpkin- shaped snack.

Caramel Pumpkin Pretzels

These one-bite treats are perfect on the go, or for nibbling at home. They’re sweet, they’re salty, and best of all they’re simple!

Ingredients:

Small Pretzels

Caramels

Orange melting chocolate wafers

M&M’s

Directions:

1. Warm a caramel in the microwave for about 10 seconds. (Caution, it will be very hot). Mold the caramel over one entire side of the pretzel.

2. Place on aluminum foil, and chill in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.

3. Meanwhile, melt candy wafers in the microwave. Microwaves vary, but I generally start with 30 seconds and stir, and then, continue at 30 second intervals until smooth.

4. Dip caramel pretzels in melted chocolate.

5. While candy is still wet, add an M&M for the pumpkin stem. You may need to roll a tiny piece of foil up to prop the stem into place while it hardens.

6. Chill till hardened and enjoy!

Happy Pumpkin Patching!

31 Days of Chocolate: October 2nd

It’s day two of Agatha’s 31 Days of Chocolate.

Today is all about embracing the fall season. Meaning, trading in the summer bathing suit for some comfortable-room-for-eating-stretchy pants.

It’s time for a little TLC, or what I’d like to call, Truffle Loving Care.

October 2nd: Treat yourself to a seasonal truffle, or two, (or a box, I’m not judging), at a chocolate shop. NotĀ the stuff you buy by the bagful for Trick or Treaters. Not the candy you find in stale bulk boxes at the grocery store. A REAL chocolate shop. With REAL chocolates. The kind of confections you pick out of the shop case like fine pieces of jewelry. The real deal, because you deserve it.

Here are some of my season’s picks:

See’s Candies: Caramel Apple Scotchmallow

Katherine-Anne Confections: Walnut Goat Cheese Truffle

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory:Ā Peacan Pie Truffle

Christopher Elbows: Blood Orange Carmels

Chocoholic’s Fall Bucket List: 31 Days of Chocolate

10

There’s just something about October that just energizes my soul.

Maybe it’s the chill in the air,

the cozy clothes,

the days in the pumpkin patch,

the nights in front of the fire,

the vibrant leaf confetti,

AND, the promise of bucket-loads of chocolate candy.

Don’t want to miss out on any chocolate opportunities? Let me be your guide, as we celebrate 31 days of October, chocoholic-style.

Day One:

Today we celebrate the 30th birthday of Matilda, by Roald Dahl.

What better way to celebrate than eating a chocolate cake bigger than your head!

Too much of a good thing? Is that possible? Let me know, in the comment section below!

(Will go easy on you on this one….If you eat any chocolate cake this month, check it off your list. āœ…)

What scent sets the holiday mood?
Cinnamon Spice! I love the brooms, pine cones, candles, and anything else I get my hands on.Ā

Favorite Halloween Fun Size Candy Bar?
When it comes to chocolate, it’s impossible to pick a favorite. Snickers, KitKats, Peanut M&M’s, Heath…they’re all good.
Favorite Halloween movie?
Family Favorite- Hocus Pocus. I adore scary movies, too…not gory, but one with a good suspenseful plot, and a dark and stormy feel to it, is perfect!

Favorite seasonal sweet?
Chocolate Covered Apples
What toppings are on the perfect candy apple?
Chocolate, Caramel, and Crushed Peanut Butter Cups. (I have chills thinking about it).

What’s your favorite costume you ever wore on Halloween?
Wonder Woman (Because nobody messes with a super hero’s candy).

Most enjoyable fall tradition?
Finding the perfect pumpkin to carve in the pumpkin patch…then, buying a cheap replacement at the grocery store, because the other one is too perfect to carve. (It will look so perfect with the Thanksgiving decor).

Pumpkin Patch Hayride or Haunted Hayride?
Pumpkin Patch. Yes, I like a good scare…from behind the tv screen, where zombies can’t grab me and pull me into the dark forest- to the chain saw shed.

What song is a must for a Halloween Party Playlist?
Monster Mash

Favorite Halloween Monster: Dracula, Frankenstein, other?
Frankie! He’s my favorite Halloween icon.

Cider or Cocoa?Ā
If I chose cider, I wouldn’t be named Agatha Chocolats. Cocoa, for sure. And bring on the whipped cream!

Pumpkin Spice: Yum, or Yuck?
Mostly, yum. Until it gets out of hand, and I’m smelling it all day in toilet cleansers and laundry detergent.

Which is scariest: Spiders, Zombies, or Clowns?
Clowns. Yep.

Best find in a Trick or Treat bag?
A Pumpkin Wrapped Lindor Truffle

Worst thing to get in your Trick or Treat bag?
Raisins.
